Phrasal verbs – put

Phrasal verbs with put include put on, put off, put up
Put up meanings and examples.
1. increase Example: My landlord wants to put up my rent.
2. raise Example: Put your hands up!
3. accommodate Example: A friend will put me up during my stay in London.
Put off meanings and examples. 
1. postpone. Example: Let's put off the picnic.  It's going to rain. 
2. discourage from. Example: He had an accident which put him off driving for life. 
3. distract. Example: I can't study. All that noise is putting me off.
Put on meanings and examples. 
1. gain weight. Example: Don't eat so much. You will put on some kilos. 
2. organize an event. Example: We want to put on a party for her birthday. 
3. start a gadget. Example: Put the TV on. I want to see the news.
4. get dressed. Example: Put on your coat. It's cold.
