Phrasal verbs – take

phrasal verbs with take include take over, take up, take after, take on, take off, take down
take after means to be similar to an older member of your family in appearance or character. Example: She takes after her mother/her mother's side of the family.
take on meanings and examples. 
1. assume, accept. Example: Taking on the directorship was his first mistake. 
2. employ, hire. Example: He has spoken to a publishing. They are going to take him on. 
3. compete against. Example: Manchester United will take on FC Barcelona on Saturday.
take off meanings and examples. 
1. remove clothing. Example: It's hot. Take your coat off. 
2. depart(plane). Example: The plane took off after a short delay. 
3. enjoy sudden success. Example: The new product really took off and everybody wanted it.
