Phrasal verbs – turn

turn to means to ask somebody for 
help or support. Example: She turned to her family for help.
turn off means to switch off. Example:  Please turn off the TV before going to bed. Second meaning is to cause to dislike. Example: The crowded beaches might turn off some people.
turn out means to attend. Example: Many people turned out to greet the star. Second meaning is to conclude. Example: Everything turned out okay. Third meaning is to result. Example: The party turned out to be a huge success
turn away means to face the opposite way. Example: She turned away and counted to fifty while the rest of us hid. Second meaning is to avert your gaze. Example: When they show a crime scene on TV, I have to turn away. Third meaning is to reject. Example:  Don't turn away from my love.
turn into means to become or to transform. Example: The days turn into months.
turn up means to make louder. Example: I can't hear anything. Turn the TV up a bit. Second meaning is to find. Example: The missing letter
 turned up inside a book. Third meaning is to happen. Example: I expect a new job will turn up soon. Forth meaning is to arrive. Example: I didn't expect him to turn up at my party.
turn down means to reduce the volume. Example: Turn the TV down
 a bit. It is too loud. Second meaning is to reject an offer. How could you 
turn down such a fantastic job?
